I was searching everywhere for advice on how to provision for a crew on a sailboat for the Atlantic. I fianally came across this little book. I highly recommend it for any one who needs advice on how to provision for a long passage.
The book is nicely broken down into essential, easy to review chapters, along with a few entertaining blog entries.
The varied recipes at the end are a different style of cooking than I am used to, (but essential for a long period without the local store next door), and the couple of recipes I have tried, have been a great success.
I can only thank Richard for putting this book together, and making me far more confident for the voyage that lies ahead.
Lots of good info for stocking, stowing, planning and cooking of provisions. Good list of provisions needed on an extended sail. I am going to use all the info on my upcoming sail from Hawaii to Alaska.
If you are going on a long journey on a boat read this first. A delicious melange of humor and wisdom. Richard manages to tell the story of the challenge of provisioning for a long voyage in a straight forward manor. I wish I had read it before my crossing. The menu planning and details make the process much easier. Choosing quantities and preparing for loss of refrigeration, flooding of a locker or any of the other unplanned events that always occur is critical and well explained in this compact guidebook.
BTW, even if you aren't going far there are lots of good suggestions.
